Sandy Relief Effort

As people have begun to recover here in Westchester County, we look beyond ourselves and towards the relief efforts happening in the greater New York area. Below is a list of outreach programs that need our help. In the coming weeks and months ahead, we will be organizing trips into these areas so that we can do some hands on service for those affected by this terrible disaster. Of course, we will also send prayers and send money. Those are the things most needed right now.

Currently, our church community is collecting flashlights & batteries, cleaning supplies (contractor trash bags, work gloves, mops, cleaning fluid, bleach).

Other items requested: gloves, handwarmers, NEW packaged underwear and socks, diapers, baby formula, and toiletries.

In terms of financial giving, please consider making a donation to Episcopal Relief and Development’s Hurricane Sandy Response Fund.

Finally, a prayer from our Book of Common Prayer for the Poor and Neglected:

Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you
all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us
to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick,
and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those
who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow
into joy. Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for
our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
