Life Eclipses Death

It's just not how life works. We all know we're going to live a finite number of years and then life ends. Death has the final word. In this sermon, preached on the day before a total solar eclipse viewable in North America, Fr. Garrett marvels at how the Easter story completely upends conventional human experience of life and death. God's intervention through the resurrection of Jesus eclipses death and offers new hope for our lives. This is mysterious and not easy to believe for many people, just as the moon obscuring the sun was mysterious for the ancients. But through the stories of witnesses in Jesus' time and the experiences of Christians in our own time, we too can come to trust in the God whose light outshines all darkness in this world.
