Expanding Your Scope
Most people have goals and ambitions for their lives. Some include the benefit of others in their motivation to reach their own personal achievements. In this morning's sermon Fr. Garrett looks at the motivations of a character described by Jesus as caring for nobody but himself. When a person's pursuits stop at the boundaries of their own self-interest, they frequently leave a trail of damage and resentment in their wake. In contrast Jesus emphasizes the character of God as constantly seeking the growth and benefit of others. What effects on other people do you want leave in the wake of your own pursuits?
