The Meaning of Busyness
"How are you?" "Oh, you know, busy, busy, busy." "I know right? So much to prepare for this time of year!" In this sermon Fr. Garrett looks at all of the preparations we busy ourselves with in December through the lens of a story about preparedness in the Gospel of Mark whose conclusion is "Keep awake." (Mark 13:24-37) Busyness can be acts of devotion to people and activities that have significant meaning in our lives; it can also be striving to keep up appearances and meet other people's expectations. The former is an investment in a rich life, while the latter is too often a setup for exhaustion and disappointment. What is the significance of your busyness?
