Completing the Mission

Setting a course and keeping it is not so difficult in fair weather and calm waters. Maintaining course when the winds blow strong and the waves hit hard against the boat is an altogether different endeavor. In this sermon Fr. Garrett explains how a threat to his life, one which would send most people running for shelter, only strengthened Jesus' resolve to hold his course (John 12:20-33). When what we hold most dear is threatened, our true commitments and loyalties come into focus. We are wise then to make the mission of our lives - the commitments and loyalties we say we hold - one that we are willing to hold true to through easy sailing and tumultuous seas.
