Where the Story Begins
The movie starts with a high adrenaline action scene. Just before the moment of climax the screen cuts to a bucolic scene with the subtitle "Seven years earlier". You now know what the rest of the film will be building toward. In this sermon Fr. Garrett points out that the Gospel of Mark has a very different opening scene (Mark 1:1-8) than the story we expect to hear as Christmas approaches. This is a story about going to a place where the scenery and events are very different from the traditional Christmas story and, for that matter, your accustomed surroundings and routines during December. It is not live streamed and you can't watch a recording of it later. You have to go there.
