Stay Focused on the Mission

Have you seen those videos of a cat chasing the little colored dot emitted by a laser pointer? The person with the laser is able to make the cat dart in any direction they choose simply by moving the dot. They're hilarious. Except when we stop to realize that sometimes we're the cat. And we chase after all varieties of distractions simply because someone provokes our attention with an inciteful comment, social media post, news item, advertisement, act of drama, or even...cat video. In this sermon Fr. Garrett looks at a Biblical conversation that was fraught with the potential for all kinds of going off the rails (John 4:5-42). Instead, Jesus stays laser focused on what he has come to offer and side steps every opportunity for distraction. Christians, likewise, have a very clear mission in life - to love God to the greatest of our ability and to demonstrate love for other people around us. The laser pointer dots are plenty however that would have us dart off in any number of other directions. Will we?
