The Blessing of Learning to Understand
Other Languages

Pentecost is a celebration of unexpected inspiration, God's gift to those seeking a spiritual booster. It originally came in the form of a message of hope spoken in multiple languages, connecting with people in a diverse and multi-national crowd in words they could individually understand. Today we are aware that even among people who technically speak the same language, it is a frequent occurrence for us to talk past each other and fail to appreciate the good in those who we view as "other". In this week's sermon, Fr. Garrett encourages us to open ourselves to unexpected opportunities for inspiration by looking and listening in places we're not accustomed. What we discover can bring us fresh perspectives and new appreciations in "languages" that we don't typically pay attention to.
